Student & College Ministry Director
Position Summary
The Student and College Ministry Director of Thomasville First Baptist, under the leadership of the Senior Pastor, will work to ensure that our mission to help people follow Jesus for the joy of Thomasville and the nations is implemented throughout our ministry. The Student and College Ministry Director will oversee the discipleship primarily of sixth through twelfth grade students and secondarily of college students and young adults.
He should be spiritually and emotionally mature, having recognized his calling to serve Christ while also acknowledging his need for Christ. He will be expected to be a servant leader on the ministry team, working closely with other staff members to serve and support the health and mission of the whole church.
Primary Responsibilities
Student Ministry
- Build and implement a strategy to recruit, equip, and develop adult leaders to lead small groups, share their faith, disciple students, help with events, support ongoing activities, and create new ministry opportunities all in accordance with our child protection policy
- Support parents as they disciple their pre-teens and teens as part of our family ministry strategy
- Ensure that life groups foster intentional community and model Biblical teaching
- Plan, lead, and direct the Wednesday night student serviceProactively plan and organize Student Ministry events (summer camp, mission trips, social events, etc.)
- Proactively plan and organize the annual Disciple Now Weekend in cooperation with other participating churches
- Effectively communicate with the church about ongoing and upcoming Student Ministry activities
- Support students at their sporting events, musicals, recitals, and other events when possible
- Be engaged in the community through strategic partnerships with the schools, FCA, school teams, and other avenues
- Attend weekly staff meetings and work enthusiastically with others on staff to plan and cooperate with special events as needed
- Manage the budgets for the student ministry and student ministry mission trips
College Ministry
- Increase engagement with Thomas University, inviting students to believe the gospel and learn about
Jesus at FBC - Support the work of Goal Line Ministry, most especially by recruiting FBC families to participate in the Adopt-A-Student program
- Recruit, equip, and develop leaders for the College and Young Adult Life Group
- Connect high school graduates from FBC with faithful students, campus ministries, and churches in their new college towns
- Care for our college students while they are away with the help of volunteers and families at FBC
- Manage the budget for the college ministry
- Perform all other duties assigned by the Senior Pastor with an eager and gracious spirit
